Living Shelter Design Architects is always looking for architectural design professionals with an organized, intuitive nature and passion for making a difference. Our mission is to create places that are healthful to live in, that help people connect with and celebrate the natural environment, and that enrich the communities and people we serve. Our current work includes exciting projects in net positive custom homes, remodels, adaptive reuse, cottage developments, and community centers. We are growing, and you can help write our next chapter!
We prefer our design associates to be seasoned graduates of an accredited school of architecture or a related field; have a minimum of 5 years of architectural office experience in the Western USA, at least 3 of those producing and managing custom home projects from DD through Construction; possess a gift for easy collaboration and balanced design; have excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills; and be proficient on a PC platform with AutoCAD and MS Office applications. Knowledge of alternative construction methods and PH, ILFI, and/or LEED AP certification earns bonus points, as does construction experience.
We are a small firm, so our best match will be a self-proficient strategic thinker that is able to manage multiple projects and tasks. Our work includes values-driven business tenant improvements and smaller civic projects such as community centers and natural history centers. We also do a variety of smaller to medium size custom homes and remodels, so you should be comfortable working with homeowner clients at that scale and scope. You will contribute to all phases of design and project management, including program development, planning, design and documentation, production and assembly of construction documents, and construction phase services. Your responsibilities will include helping establish and staying within project budgets, maintaining vibrant client and contractor relationships, and having a keen eye on quality control.
Living Shelter’s home office is located in Old Town Issaquah, nestled into the forested hills along the I-90 corridor just 15 miles east of Seattle.
