Our First Bale House

The homeowners’ came to us with a vision of building in a sustainable way. They also wanted to act as their own contractor, and loved the idea of building with straw bales.  We designed the home to reflect the older homes in the area, with a level of finish that belies the low-tech method of construction. This home was the site of our first straw bale construction workshop, leading the way to many more.
